RE:Massey signs

One sided or two sided there are some really nice signs showing up on here!!!

Gary, if you want another stab at a 18"x6" sign there is anther one on ebay right now and it is only at $810.00 and there is still three days left... I don't know what I am not seeing but I just can't figure out why these small signs are bringing this kind of money....

RE:Massey signs

Joe,

If it makes you feel better, I did bid it up to $68.00!!!  I thought I would help pad the price a little!!

Do we need to start selling!?!?!?

RE:Massey signs

Some beautiful signs on here.  Not too many found down here.  I don't know how many have seen the nice sunshine one I put under another thread just after joining, so I will add a photo of it here under this more relevant thread.  About 3 foot dia and double sided enamel.  For many years Sunshine and H V McKay were synonymous with Massey Harris down here. I apologise if you have seen it before. Buck

RE:Massey signs

Welcome back Aussie, hope you are enjoying the summer heat down under? thanks for the Sunshine sign, nice to see a related piece of Massey history.

Here is one hanging in the corner of my shed, it is the front panel from a M-H No 2 straw trusser, also attached a copy of the literature and a restored trusser down in Suffolk showing the same graphics.

RE:Massey signs

We must not forget our Ferguson and Ford history so here is a sign dating back to the days of the Ford-Ferguson tractors of the war time period

RE:Massey signs

Aussie Massey - I have just purchased a largish Sunshine sign from Holland of all places.  However I haven't got it yet as it is to be collected by a friend when he goes over there.  It is a rectangular one and I will post it here when I finally receive it.

RE:Massey signs

Yes, I really like upsetting a good friend and case collector.  The only true case was a Wallis.  Great debate with a beer and a BBQ.  Interesting to hear wher you find sunshine signs,  Buck.

RE:Massey signs

Buck,

My Sunshine sign has come completely out of the blue.  A seat collecting friend made this contact in Holland and he had it together with a Sushine sack truck that I have also bought.  He also has a Sunshine gate but it was not in good condition - these seem to bring big money but the small ones I think are very pretty and dainty.  Maybe I will learn of their exact origins more in the fullnes of time.

RE:Massey signs

Hi john,

I have a couple of sunshine gates and unfortunately they are bringing good dollars. What wonderful forthought for HV McKay to give away a nice stylish gate with the purchase of a header.  If you purchased a 12 foot header, you received a 12 foot gate.  Some of the domestic gates were very ornate in dead and highly sought after.  I will see if I can get a few photos for those on the other side of the world.  Buck
