RE:Wallis and Massey Harris parts book list

The 22K book does list two transmissions.  One with radial ball bearings and one with Hyatt roller bearings  there are also 2 rear axle assemblies listed.

Thanks Keith,
That just about explains the Cub jr wide fronts.
I had always thought they either experimental tractors or they were sold as Ks using up left over Cub jr parts. So it seems like my second thought is correct.
Thanks,
Graham.

RE:Wallis and Massey Harris parts book list

After reading this in the 15-27 and 20-30 brochures maybe both my thoughts on the Cub jr wide fronts are correct?

RE:Wallis and Massey Harris parts book list

Keith,
Does the 22K parts book have a list of serial numbers for Ks (J4s) with the Hyatt bearings?
The #23 parts book has full list of serial numbers of every K3 built.
If you look at list there are 61 numbers missing I assume these are K4s.

The 22K book is dated Jan 1, 1920.
Inside it says tractors before 16187 plus tractor 16221, 16247 and 16315 have different motor housings assemblies.  Looks like clutch parts, drive shafts, and transmission parts are different on this break in serial numbers.  The axle doesn't show a serial number break.

I have the Wallis Parts Price List  # 20 with Operating Instructions for the Wallis "Cub JR"  Tractor.  The Wallis Tractor Company  Racine (JCT.) Wisconsin.  In this book they list the Model T  KW Magneto, and the Models 1 1/4 K, and DDC Wilcox Bennett Carburetors.   There are no picture Illustrations , only the parts listings by group.    In the back 6 pages is an abbreviated Operating Instructions. I am guessing this Book came out for the early styled Cub JRs'.  However , there is no date of printing, or Serial number listings.   Tim Pace

I am pleased to see your trip to Lincolnshire was useful Graham, a few of those pieces look familiar and good to see you got them back to Canada safely in your suitcase, it is amazing what comes out of two Saturday mornings browsing old paper, I guess we are all guilty of not knowing what we have in our files, I had never noticed that listing of the K3's before you found it, those books were bought here in England back in the 1980's and in my literature files for years, long before I knew what a K3 was.

Keep digging we never stop learning until the day we die.

Tim,
I would be very interested to see book # 20, does it have part #3479 listed?
We now need to know what books number 17 18 and 19 are for?

RE:Wallis and Massey Harris parts book list

Hello Graham,  Parts Book # 20 lists part # 3479 as a  Oil Screen Case  priced at $1.50 plus shipping.  Code word for shipping is Nabpo.  It is listed in the Oil System Group.  Tim

RE:Wallis and Massey Harris parts book list

Graham,

I think the reason for getting rid of part # 3479 was it let more oil into the clutch from blow by than it took out of the clutch area witch it was designed for. When I took my latest Cub jr apart the drain back holes were plugged with corks, I believe it was for this reason.

Here is a picture of the #15 book and a very rare # 11 book that was for tractor # 1161 when new or at some time in it's life.
