RE:Wallis and Massey Harris parts book list

I think this subject is going great! Never before have I seen some of these books and it is very interesting to see the story of the new editions revealed.

Looks like we need to find a picture of the #22 book and what ever was between 15 and 20.

Also on the Fargo Dealership. I drive by there all the time and have known where it was for a while but never really thought about looking into it. There is a good chance one of my K's was sent through this place. I would really like to know if this Dealership is the stock warehouse they mention in the parts list's to be in Fargo. I did find the name of the LLC company that owns the building and now I guess it will be just to find the owner and ask for permission to research the title history. The area where this building is located is very near the place they called tractor row in Fargo. Just about every major tractor and implement brand had a warehouse here.

RE:Wallis and Massey Harris parts book list

Tom,

Here is book #22K. I didn't realize I had this, then I remembered some time ago I purchased some Wallis service letters and with them were a tatty operators manual and parts book for a model K. Quite a surprise when I realized it was #22.
It doesn't list any parts for the Cub jr rear end, so the mystery of the Cub jr wide fronts continues.
One thing I did find interesting was the first 750 or so model Ks had the same internal oil suction screen as the Cub jr's.

RE:Wallis and Massey Harris parts book list

Thanks for the photo of #22K Graham, Also on the K with Cub Jr oil sump. I had a K with the Cub JR oil sump in 2010 but I got the bright idea to sell it so now it lives in Wisconsin. Block number was 14410. So that would make the serial number 14881 and out of the range for the parts list unless they didn't have the 471 deal yet? I have tried buying it back but no such luck. Eventually I'll get it.

On the parts books again here is the latest summary of our finds.

RE:Wallis and Massey Harris parts book list

Tom,

Here is a picture of Parts Price List Number 22K This is the same book Graham listed except this one has the front cover he is missing on his. Also just inside the front cover is a mail in post card to receive an Instruction Book for the K-4.

On the front cover of this book it has pencil writing 2-2124-a connector rod Bearings and Model K. After looking trough the book I noticed more marks on the rod bearing section and figured out they must have needed two bearings at one time and for some dumb reason they had written on the front cover they needed two of part number 2124-a.

On the rear cover there are some figures, I am assuming some prices of things they had to purchase at some point and time also it says Motor number 17052 so I believe this book at some point in it's life had some connection with Wallis Tractor Number 17523.

Although I am not fond of people scribbling on books and things, on the flip side it does sometimes help track history just as it did this time.

I don't know about the rest of you but I am having a blast digging through this stuff and discovering things I just passed over and didn't pick up on before!!

RE:Wallis and Massey Harris parts book list

While digging through more piles of stuff I came across this article. Although it is not a parts list I thought it would fit right in with all this talk about Cub jrs and early Model Ks.

According to this the first time the public laid eyes on a Model K-4 was at the national Tractor Demonstration in Wichita, pretty Cool Huh?? Although the picture here is mostly what we are used to seeing a Model K look like, the front wheel caps appear to be oval like a British Wallis but are missing the 4 bolts and the steering box looks to be a bit different but it could be my eyes or the way the picture is taken.

Joe,

Here is an above view of the same steering box, it's pictured in this model K brochure.
Also go to Wallis tractors thread page 11.

RE:Wallis and Massey Harris parts book list

With some of the early books being both parts and instruction books I thought It would be interesting to list some of the instruction books for early tractors.
The earliest one I have is for the model J, then I have two different books for K one with 25 pages and one with 48 pages. The extra pages in the second book are instructions for magneto and the carburetor. The first book mentions a separate book for the magneto.
I have not seen a model OK insruction book so if any one has one it would be good to see a picture of it.

I have never seen or even heard of that book on the OK before!

thanks for posting.

RE:Wallis and Massey Harris parts book list

Another instruction book I have not seen is one for the 15-27 Certified, so if Joe or anyone has one it would be good to see that one also.
The next two I have are for the 20-30. The only difference is the first one has instructions for the Pickering governor and the second has instructions for the Kingston governor and the first one is the Canadian version.
The third one pictured is Tom's.
