RE:Massey Expo in Rushville IN

Rushville was very short of implements at the Expo compared to Ontario last year, but well worthy of a mention was the two Pulverator Plough's at the show.

Whilst John was driving the golf cart around the site, ( I must say an easy way to view the entire show, especially easy on the back) I spotted a two bottom Pulverator hitched to a Farmall tractor, then on the Friday Harry Bowen turned up with his three bottom Pulverator in the feature area. Very rare to see two at one show.

RE:Massey Expo in Rushville IN

I didn't see the 2 bottom Pulverator at Rushville, but it appeared for sale on www.ytmag.com on August 2, at a price of $1000.  I called at around 8:00 a.m.  and was told by the owner that it was in good operating condition, but that I was the second caller.  As you can guess, the first caller took it, and I continue to search.  Guess I'll have to get on line earlier in the morning!

Nice photos of the Pulverator  Plough Malcolm.

I am curious about the colour. I understand the green but what about the grey? Does that go back to the Wallis era?

RE:Massey Expo in Rushville IN

Jerry,

Did Tom Seaberg beat you to the post?? I know he has been wanting a Pulverator for a long time and expect he found it hiding in the trees at Rushville too.

Alan,

The Pulverator's I have seen have been green or red, but grey is a possibility as I know many were used behind the M-H GP's and some of them were grey. I don't think it will come from the Wallis era as not many of the earlier tractors had PTO unit's fitted. Although a Pulverator would look good behind a Wallis K with a belt or chain driven PTO unit fitted!!! there is not many of them around.

Here are a few more photos of some nice "U" frame tractors at the Expo

RE:Massey Expo in Rushville IN

Malcolm,
I'm hoping that it was picked up by a fellow MCA member - at least I would know that it will be properly cared for (and hopefully exercised occasionally).

If anyone knows who got it - please come forward.  I'd like to congratulate you!

RE:Massey Expo in Rushville IN

Just a note of "thanks" to the Committee of the Rushville Expo for the very pleasant personalised letter of thanks received in the mailbox this week for attending the Massey Expo this year, very nice and appreciated touch of professionalism, great thought well done to the Expo Team.

Here are a few shots of my personal favourites at Rushville.

RE:Massey Expo in Rushville IN

Not to detract from the Massey Feature at Rushville, one aspect of the show well worthy of a mention I felt was the excellent display of steam engines at this show, obviously there are some very dedicated members of the club with deep interest in steam preservation in the US.

Of particular interest to me was the "Robinson" engine, only ever seen one other in NC on my travels throughout North America over the years, good to see the one in steam at Rushville.

RE:Massey Expo in Rushville IN

I'd like to Congratulate John Bush for the cover and major story on his Pacemaker Orchard in current edition of Antique Power. Great to see MH featured. My wife even thought John looked pretty good and after I told her I thought John was late 60's she was really impressed!!!

RE:Massey Expo in Rushville IN

Thanks for the kind words Bob, from both you and your wife.  (Actually I am still in my early 60's, but you don't have to tell her that.)    ;-)

Mine is probably not the best restored 1938 Styled Pacemaker Orchard out there, but it was a matter of being in the right place at the right time when Antique Power sent a representative to the Massey Expo in Rushville last August.  You can expect to see some other Massey articles coming over the next year or so as a result of that Massey Expo visit.

Happy New Year everyone.  2015 is going to be an interesting year!!

Take care,

JB
