RE:MF's Diamond Anniversary

Inevitably there was a bag of "Goodies" being given away.  The carrier bag is a collectors item in itself!  Here is the bag and principal contents

RE:MF's Diamond Anniversary

Has anyone heard of any AGCO/MF celebrations for the 60th (Diamond) anniversary of the creation of MF in North America this year.  Here we are finding, sadly, that here is little interest in it so far by dealers - as they similarly have little interest in the 100th anniversary of the first Massey tractor.

"The Road Show is Heading East"

I must say reading this thread the first AGCO / Massey Ferguson Celebration Road Show held at Stoneleigh has not got off to a good start in proudly celebrating their heritage of tractor production over the last 60 to 100 years.

I am hoping the first show in Eastern England next week has a bit more excitement to it, it is being held at the Newark Agricultural Showground followed by another the following week at Peterborough Showground, just a little further South.

RE:MF's Diamond Anniversary

Yesterday afternoon and evening saw the Diamond Road Show take place at Newark Agricultural Showground.

An interesting experience in many aspects which I will discuss as we go through the photo's taken during the event.

First it was a very good job I knew where the event was being held, no direction signs or any promotional advertising until entering the showground site, the one and only indication of an event said "Massey Ferguson Dealer Day" with no mention of any Diamond celebration.
Also a photograph attached of the external appearance of the "Lady Eastwood" building where the event was held, just one tractor outside and not a lot of advertising again.

I am very unsure why M-F and AGCO are not proud to advertise their success in the bright and colourful way Massey - Harris did all those years ago.

More to follow later.

RE:MF's Diamond Anniversary

The "welcome banner" strategically placed just inside the main entrance door, visitors was quite sparse throughout the afternoon, just a steady stream as there was not too much to keep them there for longer.

Unfortunately the AGCO team were NOT interested in their history and where they have come from, they could only talk about current day products. One marketing manager denying any knowledge of their 100th year of tractor production and saying well M-H is NOT M-F, that soon brought a sharp response from myself that she may not have a job with Massey today had it not been for M-H in the beginning.

Sad to say the next photo is the only glimpse of M-F history throughout the entire show.

RE:MF's Diamond Anniversary

Here are two of our M-F tractor drivers who had been looking forward to this event since it was announced by our local dealers Chandlers Farm Equipment, they are seen here carrying their "goodie bags" but very disappointed there was no M-F merchandise at all at the event to purchase, so their cash stayed in their pockets and unfortunately yet again AGCO missed another great opportunity to further develop a potential side of the business which is very prominent with other manufacturers.

RE:MF's Diamond Anniversary

Here is the 7722 S greeting everyone to the show outside the main entrance.

Interesting to note the latest technology in the new rear view mirrors, they are almost like truck mirrors now with electric demisting, they look expensive to replace if caught on a tree branch etc.
