RE:Massey tractor 100th anniversary?????

Pleased to hear your coming to Carrington Alan.

Keep an eye out for this banner, I am sure it will be the only AGCO one there and should be standing proud on the Ferguson Club Stand.

RE:Massey tractor 100th anniversary?????

Well folks consider this the start of the 100th anniversary of Massey tractors.  I have my son's No 2 bought from the Ken Reichert sale some years ago loaded on to my trailer and ready to go to its first show.  This will be on our Bank Holiday weekend 28th/29th May.

The show is a transport festival organised by the Meirionnydd group of the National Vintage Tractor and Engine Club and this will be its third year.  Held at Llanuwchlynn on the end of Bala Lake - the biggest Lake in Wales - it has a magnificent setting.  Here's hoping for magnificent weather!!

Had to have a weight check on the loaded weight of the trailer.  The local slate quarry weigh bridge passed us with a small but useful margin!

The tractor was paraded at the Milton MF 150th ahsow in 1997 having then been restored by the Reichert family and fitted with Cadillac pistons!

RE:Massey tractor 100th anniversary?????

It has been a very busy weekend here in Lincolnshire, preparing the rally field and getting some of my own exhibits out of the shed and ready to go this week.

Here is a photo of the first load, hard to imagine it is now 21 years since this tractor was at the same show for the M-H 150th Anniversary event.

Sorry to say my background scenery is no where near as appealing as yours John.

Malcolm.

RE:Massey tractor 100th anniversary?????

Just finished putting together another 100th Anniversary information board for this special display of "100 Years of Massey Tractor Production" at Carrington Rally this weekend.

So that's the early years sorted now I hope the two new tractors are getting cleaned and polished at the farm in readiness for the final piece of the stand jigsaw slotting into place on Friday.

RE:Massey tractor 100th anniversary?????

Just had our safety meeting tonight before the rally opens tomorrow lunchtime, picked up 300 of our Rally programmes to give one to each tractor exhibitor when they book into the Rally.
As I leave more of the Rally organising to the younger generation now, I enjoy sitting back and letting them get on with it, so I got a surprise tonight when I saw the Ferguson Narrow tractor on the front cover, it should be here with it’s ownersat  the rally in our “Orchard and Vineyard” theme.

RE:Massey tractor 100th anniversary?????

My, my!!  What an exceptional looking front cover for such a special show!  I, too, agree the owners should be at the Rally!  I am sure they could be there by the Rally's end if they could obtain a couple of airline tickets.  I am sure they would accept all donations!

I do hope you will reserve a few of the books so the owners can at least tell their grandkids, "Look - this is grandpa and grandma's favorite tractor on the front cover of most prestigious United Kingdom Rally!"  I am sure they would be impressed.

It is somewhat magical that a tractor now located in the US still holds enough impact that it is featured in this special place of honor.  Although, the tractor has made its  appearence at the Carrington Rally before, probably under two different owners, it is still a very special honor to have this tractor be recognized in this way.

Thanks for sharing Malcolm!

Gary

RE:Massey tractor 100th anniversary?????

The “100 Years of Massey Tractor Production” display is all set up, just the red and yellow bunting to finish off this morning, we had over one inch of rain yesterday which caused a few site logistical problems.
Also have some interesting Orchard and Vineyard tractors turned up for that feature.

We are hoping the rain keeps away now for the next two days and we get some sunshine.

Malcolm It wouldn't be Carrington without the rain!!! Must make things very difficult. Let's hope for three nice sunny days to come now. See you over the weekend. Alan

RE:Massey tractor 100th anniversary?????

Malcolm is stuck on the Carrington rally field where mobile phone reception is at best poor and mostly no-existent.

Anyway he sent me some pics yesterday and asked me to post them here just to keep you all up-dated.  They had a lot of rain yesterday and as you can see it all looks very gloomy but the forecast is much better for the three days of our Bank Holiday weekend starting today.

He has put on a splendid, informative and interesting display as you can see.

SO - this is the start of the 100th anniversary of the first Massey tractors and as you will see he has his No 2 there

RE:Massey tractor 100th anniversary?????

Well it seems as though AGCO have ignored the 100th anniversary of the M-H No 2 and No 3 but John and Malcolm have risen to the challenge. I think John has taken his tractor to a Show in North Wales and Malcolm was at Carrington where I met up with him. He won the cup for the oldest tractor in the Show with his No 2 and he as got the Silver Plate for the best stand at the Show. Or should that be the other way around? He are some photos of Malcolm's Stand.
