RE:Massey-Harris Auction.

This is the MH backboard returned to something of its former glory after a lot of cleaning and some antique furniture polish.  Are there any others about?

RE:Massey-Harris Auction.

Sorry for the ignorance John but what was the blackboard used for? I assume it belonged to a Dealer and he put things on it that he had to sell? Please enlighten me. Alan

RE:Massey-Harris Auction.

I have one in about the same condition as Bob’s (John’s). Alan, you are correct! They were used by dealers to write on with chalk showing used tractors for sale or just to advertise specials for sale!! Not too many out there available and for sale.

I understand my Gray Pony went to Ireland! Might be another “first” for the little charmer!  I wonder if anyone noticed the MHF rear tires?

i have already talked to the new owner!! Small world for sure!!

RE:Massey-Harris Auction.

Malcolm,

Thanks so much for posting the pics of the auction. It is great to see things good to new homes!  I had a little to do with some friends f these items landing in the UK. I know it was tough on Bob but it sounds like he will still have some “toys” to play with!

I had some struggles getting on line or some things would have found there way back to the US!! Between Rantoul and MENA it was hard to get where I wanted to be but all is well!!

Thanks again for sharing!!

Gary

Thanks Gary,

Being totally focused here in England this last week on both of Bob's auctions, I had totally forgot about the Expo the same weekend in PA, have you any photo's to start a 2019 Expo thread?, I would be pleased to hear and see how it went out East and what showed up on display.

Malcolm.

Gary. Thanks for answering my question on the blackboard. Very interesting. I'm glad that your gray pony has gone to a good home. Alan

RE:Massey-Harris Auction.

Dakota,

You asked about the tandem 55 yesterday, well all I know from discussion as it was sold, it is supposedly heading further south on the Eastern side of the UK into the County of Essex, it's not far from London Heathrow airport if you fancy a trip across to see it.

Here are a couple more pieces from the sale, the traditional British market hand cart painted and lettered in M-H colours is another piece I agreed to stand out from and not bid,  the new owner and his wife desperately wanted it for their son's wedding next year, I am sure it will be well decorated when it's time for the ceremony, I told him we shall want to see a photo of the cart in action, some of you know Gordon well and have visited his collection with me.

The other piece is the Orchard sprayer complete with Myers pump and M-H engine.

Malcolm.

Here are two close ups of the small MH mill that Malcolm mentioned in an earlier post.  I too have never seen one before either in the flesh or in brochures.  I wonder whether anyone out there has further knowledge.  It would seem to be of a size suitable for being powered by a stationary engine of maybe 2-4 hp?????

Also a pic of the other mill that I purchased at the same time - not quite so rare but a nice ornate item

What was the larger on the two mills used for John? It looks to me as if it was used for grinding maize (corn) Alan
