Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

Thought I would try a new thread - a look at what sort of cast iron Massey memorabilia you folks out there have gathered together.

This is one of my favourite pieces - its the end piece of the frame of an M-H land roller.

Now let's have you all contributing - no use just viewing - Please Please - do make contributions by replying

Thanks - over to you wide audience that is indisputably out there!

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

That looks really nice John. What sort of roll would that be? A flat roll or did M-H make Cambridge Rolls ( ring rolls) Probably horse drawn would it be?

Alan,

A flat roll for horses.  You can see it in my Massey Legacy Volume One, page 95.

I'm not aware that M-H ever did Cambridge style ring rolls

yes I have found it in your book. I wonder what happened to the rest of the roll! Were they available in the UK?

alan,

As far as I am aware they were not sold in the UK.  We had plenty of small manufacturers for this sort of thing

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

I am surprised this thread of Massey Cast Iron Memorabilia has not  received more posts from some of our North American Massey Collector friends who have all types of cast iron memorabilia in their collections.

Anyway here is one item I have been working on this winter and finally got it put up on the cast iron seat display this Christmas.

I have two variations of this "J. I. Case Plow Works" seat, the other one only says "Racine Wis" on it, are there any more variations of this same style out there?

Malcolm.

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

Now that we are getting a lot more inputs to this site I thought it might be worthwhile reviving this cast iron memorabilia thread, and as Malcolm said in his last post of a few months ago, I too am surprised that there was so little response to it.  So let's have another go.  I KNOW that there are many of you out therewho, like me, have all sorts of stuff stacked away in your sheds.

So here we go again first off with a Massey-Harris mower wheel hub.  Heavy strong things and I have one or two to decorate my shed doors to remind me of what's inside!!

John:

Nice looking hub cap!! I was going to post the Massey Harris Grinders under this thread but put them under Massey Harris Barn Equipment as they seem to fit there better.

Here I have a Wallis front wheel cap off a model K I paid way tooo much for at a Cruse auction but it makes a great pen holder.

Also this ashtray is not directly Massey Harris but it is cast iron and from the Twin Disc Clutch company and as you know the Massey Harris GPs and all the Wallis tractors are what helped put the Twin Disc company on the map.

RE:Cast Iron M-H Memorabilia

Joe,

I'd like to place an order for one of those Wallis pen holder please!!!

My offering today is a flywheel off a Massey-Harris buzz saw.  About 40 inches diameter and 3-4 inches thick I am sure.  Probably weighs150-200 pounds.

I think it will in due course make a nice coffee table.
