101 and 2 juniors

Hi all,  I was just reading the data book and a little confused about the models and grills.  I have what I thought was a 101 junior with the light grill and the air cleaner in front of the radiator.  My serial number appears to be a 102 junior and mine has a 162 ci engine.  Have a look at the pics and let me know your thoughts. Regards Buck

RE:101 and 2 juniors

Buck,

You have a very cool looking tractor there!! It appears to be a 1941 Model 102, one of 648 built that year. I am sure the engine was upgraded to the larger 162 sometime in it's lifetime. I blew up the picture and I think I could see the rear Kerosene tank neck also it has the Kerosene manifold on it I couldn't see if it had the lines and valves for the Gas/Kerosene but I did notice it has all the linkage for the Twin Power on the governor. Also it has the Shutter set up in front of the radiator very rarely seen on most tractors. Don't know why they would have removed them, possibly when they started using gas only they created overheating problems?

Nice tractor thanks for the pictures.

Joe

RE:101 and 2 juniors

Thanks Joe,  it is a very original tractor, what you can't see in these pictures is the very old, maybe not quite original rubber encased battery still in the carrier.  It is a dual fuel engine. Most of the tractors here in Oz, still have the shutters fitted.  The details you have given seem to be the same as I have found.  I assume that the early 102 junior tractors had this type of grill.  Thanks your your reply.  Buck
