Massey Ferguson Implements

While John was working on rebuilding his #26, I was playing with my new purchase.  It is a MF #66 3 point plow.  It is definitely different for being a "newer" plow.  It is a 2 bottom plow with 10" plow shares!!  It has what I have always called "Canadian" shares but reading my parts and operators manuals I learned they are called "scotch" bottoms.  In my experiences we called draft horse shoes used for showing "scotch bottoms"!!

It was at a local auction and no one seemed to want it since it was so "odd"!  So I helped the auctioneer out with a small bid and brought it home!!  Probably one of my cheapest purchases!!!

I am glad I have not taken it to a plow day since the purpose was to lay the sod on its side (not turned completely over) so the soil could aerate and maintain moisture and slow errosion. Others would have asked me to go plow under a tree or something worse!!

I used it with my MH 50 Utility (with no weights or fluid) to plow up some sod to lengthen my drive into the barn.  It worked just like it said it should!!  And it was nice to know the draft control on the tractor worked as well.

Did not get any pics working it but this is what it looks like.  One interesting thing: the tail wheel still has green paint on it!!  Where did that come from?  I would never thought the tail wheel would be green!!!  Any ideas!!

RE:Massey Ferguson Implements

Very nice original plough you have there Gary,

Now you need a M-F 135 and pair the two together and you have a good combination for some "match ploughing", I know a few M-F collectors over here who would love to find a plough like that in such good condition.

Seen at last Saturday's end of season Cheffins Vintage Collective Auction was this very unusual M-F low density in line baler, it looked like it had been undercover all it's life with most of the original grey and red paint left and original decals too, a very nice implement to show or work behind a classic M-F tractor of the same period. It sold exceptionally well at £1,300.

Also there was a M-F 34 seed drill of the same era and conditon, probably from the same farm.
