RE:MCA Plow Day

So how was the plow day? I am really looking forward to pictures!

RE:MCA Plow Day

MCA Plow Day was great.  Weather was beautiful!!  Who would think we would be out plowing in t-shirts and shorts the end of October!!

With everyone plowing I did not see too many pictures being taken.  Hopefully Rick Keating will post some for everyone to enjoy!!  He was there on Friday and Saturday taking pics so hopefully he will share with us.

I think there were about 20-25 tractors there for the weekend and at least that many plows.

The states of Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Kansas and Kentucky were represented so it was a very good turn out and a good selection of tractors and plows.

The newest tractor was a MF 65 LP with mounted 3 bottom plow.  He was doing a very nice job.   A MH 101 might have been the oldest tractor.

There was a MH 30 RC with an International 2 bottom trail plow that worked extremely well.  In fact, I drove it most of the morning then put my 333 on the plow in the afternoon!! (thanks Dave for sharing!!)

It was fun to watch the different tractors and plows being hooked up to just play.  They were switching implements around all thru the day.

We had a great noon meal prepared by Pat Sager and a delicious meal that evening at restaurant in Magnolia.  It was fun to watch people that evening.  Since everyone was plowing all day, no one had time to just sit and visit so we occupied the restaurant for about an hour and half after everyone was done eating just sitting and visiting with our friends.

It was a great weekend, great soils to "play" in and lots of tinkering going on to make the plows and the tractors work a  little better (I think!).

If you were not there, you missed a fun weekend.  Hopefully, you will put it on your calendar for next year because it looks like it will be a repeat performance.  I know the land owner was very happy and enjoyed seeing the old tractors working his field.

Hopefully, we will get some pics up but I know I did not take any so we need Rick and others to posts some for us!!

RE:MCA Plow Day

Looks like there was a lot of fun to be had last Saturday. I wish it wasn't so far or I would have been there. To make it there and back would have been a 1400 mile round trip for me.

Thanks for the pictures!

RE:MCA Plow Day

Thanks for the pictures Rick. I do like to see tractors plowing especially M-H

RE:MCA Plow Day

Great to see the Massey Plow Day was enjoyed by all who attended and participated, even better when the weather co operates with you. I much prefer the laid back "working events" rather than the serious "ploughing matches" here in UK.

Was there any "U" frame Wallis or M-H tractors, or steel wheel tractors participating? looking forward to seeing more photo's when time allows.

Malcolm.

RE:MCA Plow Day

Courtesy of Debbie Armstrong, here is a shot of my MH 44 diesel pulling a 3 bottom plow.  This tractor always ran great and had plenty of power.  I used to pull it quite a bit in the antique pulls, but they changed the rules a few years back, and this tractor has mostly sat around since then.  I thought a good work-out would do it good.

Unfortunately, it was short-lived.  Seems it now has what I suspect is a partially plugged fuel filter issue - no doubt from sitting around so much recently.  Shame...

Hopefully somebody got some photos of my MH 33 GR with MH No. 37 3-pt, 3-bottom plow.  Had trouble getting it to go into the ground, but as the day wore on and it shined-up a bit, it gradually got better.  It was doing a pretty decent job by dinner time.  And the old 33 ran great all day!  First time I had it under loaded conditions.  I was quite pleased.

Here is another pic thanks to Deb Armstrong!  My 333 RC working in front of Dave Morrison's 2 bottom IH plow.  It was working to perfection!!  Don Synder, PA is along for the ride!!

RE:MCA Plow Day

Looks like everyone had a great time! Wish I could have been there but I was busy working on my Massey Harris Picker so I could get the corn off my field and start plowing.

If it works here is a link to my big Plow day here with the P3 Ferguson. John F. I think you will enjoy seeing this!  This little Fergie really plows great in 2nd gear with this little two bottom plow and does a great job. Notice the difference where I plowed it was covering almost all the stalks up and where my brother was plowing with the MF 1100 with the JD flip plow it didn't do as nice of job as the little Fergie.

If it works click on the link above to see it.
