PETER LEDWITH

It saddens me greatly to report the passing of Peter Ledwith.

Peter was one of the finest both as a fine upstanding gentleman and as a highly motivated and very knowledgeable man of the whole agricultural machinery heritage movement in North America.  He was highly instrumental in bringing together the Ontario Agricultural Museum collection of all makes of tractors, old buildings and associated artifacts.  He was also the power behind the throne in bringing about that truly incredible 1997 150th anniversary Massey Expo at the Milton Museum.  In his personal life he had a collection of fine Coc-shutt tractors and petromabilia.

Peter helped me when I was preparing my books Massey Legacy 1 and 2 at the museum and did the preface of one.  He also arranged for me to drive the MH No 3 that was then in the collection - something that I treasure to this day.

Peter's health had been failing slowly for a few years and he fought a great fight to the end until cancers finally overwhelmed him.  His wife Cindy tended him tirelessly.  I will miss him as a dear personal friend but my grief can be as nothing compared to Cindy's and sons Evan and Owen.

Rest in peace Peter - your great work at Milton lives on.

RE:PETER LEDWITH

Thank you for the post, John.

I had the opportunity to meet Peter several years ago at one of the shows in Milton.  We had a lively discussion about collecting farm toys!  He was a passionate man when it came to agriculture and preserving its heritage.  He put the Agriculture Museum on the map for Milton and Ontario.

I did not know he had been sick but that is the way Peter was!! He would never let something like cancer get in his way.   Cancer is a horrible thing, it has taken yet another great a person from our arms!!  He will be missed!!
