Xmas start up

Well I hope that by now you have all fattened yourselves up on beef, ham, turkey or whatever and are ready to get a new Massey year underway.  We actually had, for a change from turkey, a roasted rib of beef on the bone.  It was from a well hung Welsh Black and there's a little left to have cold tonight with some chutney or pickles.

Anyway lunch over and down to the shed for a traditional Xmas start up.  This year my 1937 wide front green Challenger which was kindly given to me by my great uncle when he retired in 1968.  It started on the first pull after two pulls up on full choke - it rarely fails me.  Picture of the old girl attached (I hope!).

Take care all of you, enjoy the rest of Xmas and have a happy, productive and prosperous New Year.

RE:Xmas start up

Well it's all over now and hope all you Massey Collectors around the world had a very Happy Christmas.
Here is a photo of my Christmas start up, suppose I had too much turkey for hand cranking a "U" frame, so this was the choice of the afternoons entertainment.

Happy New Year

RE:Xmas start up

Hi all and Merry Christmas from Down Under.  We too, had a  Christmas start up while my boys were at home.  Nothing as exciting as grandchildren as yet, but the Sunshine Pacemaker, 25, 55D and 744 got a run.  I even managed to put a starter cartridge through the Fowler Crawler. That certainly stopped the mosquitos in the shed. This week, everything will be started and come out of the shed for the yearly bathing and then be covered up until the next showing.  A chance for the oils to move around their respective areas.  Hoping to read all your valuable contributions during 2017.  Thanks for everyone ideas and camaraderie throughout 2016.   Happy restoring....Buck

RE:Xmas start up

I hope you have had a nice Christmas. Happy New Year to everyone. Here is a photo of my Grandson trying to sort the gears out on my Grey Fergie over the Christmas period. As you can see the tractor is in her working clothes. She is like me only partly retired.

RE:Xmas start up

Hi Malcolm,

Glad to see I could provide you with some Christmas cheer. I just hope it started and continued to run!!  It does look nice if I do say so myself!!  I notice you have leak pads down, Hopefully it is not dropping any black gold onto the floor!

Feel free to continue your entertainment!  It might get to another show or two before it finds its way home!!

Thanks for sharing your Christmas Start-Up project.

RE:Xmas start up

I am pleased to say it started and ran great on Christmas Day Gary, thought I had better get it tuned up just in case I got a surprise visit from you over Christmas to load the container, I am sure Ony would of enjoyed the Thursford Christmas party as much as you would loading up all those Ferguson items to send home.

Anyway it's almost New Years now and today our temperatures have risen and the frost gone, so put some water in the GP and gave her a "New Years Eve Run" in readiness for another burst of life on New Years Day 2017, getting prepared for this coming rally season, this one just may get a few trips out this next year.

Happy New Year To All Massey Collectors.

RE:Xmas start up

Here is technical New Year Question for Joe and Brendon,

Why is it when I post pictures from an Apple I phone they some time come up sideways on this site? Apart from the one of Gary's Ferguson on Christmas Day, it managed to keep it's balance and stay the correct way!!!

I posted the above two photo's from my shed on New Years Eve they were the correct way on my phone, as soon as they hit this site they went sideways, I tried to rotate them from my phone but could not find a way to do it, so this morning is the first morning back in the office and no problem to rotate them from my desktop computer.

Another form of "design fault"??????

Malcolm.

RE:Xmas start up

Malcolm I have the same problem with my Samsung (Android) phone as you can see from the photo of my tractor

RE:Xmas start up

Happy New Year Alan,

Good to see you are getting the next generation interested in the tractors.

I have copied, saved and rotated your photo with no problem, just like my own, but could not replace it into your post. Let's hope the "technical whizz kids" looking after the site can give us the answers and correct this issue or possibly re train us old hands!!! maybe we just have to rotate our phones to take the photo's ???

Malcolm.

Malcolm
I have had the same problem using the iPhone, I think it depends on which way up you hold the phone when you take the photo. I have corrected this by editing the photo on the phone giving it a full rotation, this doesn't make sense but it seems to work.
