"Tub" Drohman Day

A fellow Massey Collector and friend to all, "Tub" Drohman is struggling with some major health issues. He has chosen to part with his entire Massey collection due to his health.  Let's show "Tub" MCA  cares about a fellow collector and special friend by declaring April 7th and 8th 2017 "SUPPORT 'TUB' DAY'.  He needs our encouragement .

RE: "Tub" Drohman Day

Great idea- He is a fine person and a Massy Friend. Bill P.

RE: "Tub" Drohman Day

Many Massey enthusiasts from across the country have descended on Ruskin, Nebraska this weekend to support “Tub Drohman Day” and have a chance to own a piece of his extensive collection of Massey tractors, memorabilia, parts and signs.  I doubt if there has ever been a larger assemblage of triple series Masseys offered for sale by one person.  If there was I can guarantee it didn’t include the first 333 and 444 built.

Main street in Ruskin will be closed on Saturday as these are lined up to be actioned off to the highest bidder.  It is sure to be an incredible event that will be remembered for years to come.

Tub, Have a great weekend and a tremendous sale.

RE: "Tub" Drohman Day

I hope some of you in Ruskin are going to use your cameras and post some photo's of this memorable event, it's not often a Main Street gets closed to traffic for a Massey event, so this should make a very good set for a photo shoot.

All good wishes from England for a great day tomorrow Tub, it's a long while since we first met at The Wild Harvest Expo at Camp Creek, Waverley, Nebraska in 1994.

RE: "Tub" Drohman Day

Closing Main Street in Ruskin (population of 196 according to the highway sign) may not be as big of deal as many of you might imagine.  Still it is a fitting tribute to the man who has in many of our minds put the small south central Nebraska town on the map.  His recreation of a 1950s Massey Harris dealership and vast collection of Massey Harris items has made Main Street in Ruskin a must see stop for many of us as we traveled through that part of the country.

Tub was able to get out a couple of times to take part in the auction today and came to the supper for his family and “Massey Family” this evening.  He tires quickly and plans to be at the auction at 11:00 in the morning as they sell his two most famous tractors.  It’s sure to be a memorable moment.

RE: "Tub" Drohman Day

Yes we owe him a great bit a gratitude.  Just think how many of these tractors would have ended up in a scrap yard.  Some pretty interesting pieces that he had and think this is his third auction.

RE: "Tub" Drohman Day

Being in Ruskin, Nebraska, is like stepping back into time.  Main street, with Tub's Massey buildings and their signs, just a few steps away from the Ruskin Post office, which looks pretty much like it must have in the 1950's...   It's almost like we are in a place in time during which these triple series Massey-Harris were produced.

Great bunch of Massey folks here, and hopefully making a fine tribute to Tub and all of his Massey contributions.  Saturday should be a very interesting day.

RE: "Tub" Drohman Day

And what a day it was in Ruskin, Nebraska!  Tub’s family started lining up tractors before 5:00am and by the time Robin and I arrived both sides of Main Street were lined with over 30 triple series tractors of all fuel types, wheel configurations and conditions.  There were trailers loaded with manuals and parts, down the center of the street and toys, signs, and everything else Massey was on the sidewalks and between the buildings.
The sale lasted just over 5 hours and by 4:00 Main Street in Ruskin was just about back to normal.  Trailers from as far away as Ontario and Maryland left filled with tractors and other Massey items.  It is amazing how fast such a vast collection can be sold, picked up and on its way to its new homes.

Tonight, not only is Main Street in Ruskin a little darker without the neon glow of the Massey Harris dealer’s sign hanging outside Tub’s building.  The whole Massey collecting world is a little less bright because there is no longer a place where the prairie transforms into sandhills that can take us back to a time when Massey Harris tractors could be purchased new.   The Massey Harris shrine amidst the center pivots has been lost to the sands of time.

So Thanks Tub!  Thanks for slowing the hands of time just a little so we could savor the past.  Thanks for creating a time capsule of history to be passed on.  And Thanks for being an example, mentor and friend to all Massey collectors.  You truly are a legend in our time!

RE: "Tub" Drohman Day

This auction will be a very memorable event and the best part was I got to come home with the only thing I went there for. Here are a couple pictures and a link to a video of the No. One 333 & 444 being sold.

RE: "Tub" Drohman Day

Here's another shot of tractors lined up down main street.  The building with the flag is the actual Ruskin Post Office.  Then to the left you can see Tub's "Massey Dealership" and his other building next door.  Unrestored tractors were lined-up across the street.

It was great seeing Tub and meeting so many of his wonderful family during this auction.
