Bit late for haymaking....

Thought this might be of interest....

Not ideal - making hay this late when the forecast isnt great either.... none the less we got most of it done last night before a storm moved in overnight. I think we had 15 people in the field helping until late last night - a fantastic community 'event'.

This was the first real work for my TEA20 since restoration. I pulled it out of a hedge 2 and a half years ago and now it is mechanically sound (albeit it still looks like a hedgerow tractor) it drove the tedder fine and didn't miss a beat.

The 575 is a friends who farms locally with a variety of Masseys, all of which were bought new and have remained on the farm ever since, including a 165 and a 35X.

Hopefully my Pacemaker will be in on the action next year in some fashion.....:-)

Cheers 4 now.

RE:Bit late for haymaking....

Nice photo's Jon , it looks to be a good crop of very nice hay.

Now you need to find a Massey Harris Dickie hay turner for your Pacemaker in readiness for next years crop.

Is that a Welger AP63 baler?, I remember them well back in the early 1980's and a very good well made robust baler too.

Keep up the good work

Malcolm.

RE:Bit late for haymaking....

Hi Malcolm,

Yeap it it was a good crop and good fun making it too - I think we had 15 people in the field at one point with plenty of cheese and cider to keep us going. Somerset style... 😁

Yes I am definately on the look out for some older machinery for next year - it would be fantastic to get a land driven tedder for the Pacemaker - I wasn't aware of the 'Dickie' but having had a quick look YouTube that looks a fascinating bit of kit. Let me know if you come across one!!

Yes thats the baler - we borrowed it from a chap in the village, and despite being parked for 4 years it started firing out bales straight away. Other than a few shear bolts it was fantastic and didn't drop many bales at all. We are in negotiations on the baler at the moment as he wants to sell it.

Im steadily pressing on with the Pacemaker, it's all going back together nicely now - once the Carburetor is back it won't be long until I try and fire it up again. Will film that!

Cheers 4now, Jon.

RE:Bit late for haymaking....

Hi Jon Thanks for sharering the photos of your haymaking operation. It looks as though it was a good crop. If you are looking for a M-H Dickie hay Turner I have one for sale. It's in hedgerow condition but as far as I know it works. The problem is it has no tines on it on the boards that keep the hay in rows. It would want a full restoration. Alan

RE:Bit late for haymaking....

Hi Alan,
Fantastic, that sounds ideal 😆 I didn't imagine they'd be any around 👍 I reckon that would look superb behind my old pacemaker.
If you could drop me your number on either 07528 975777 or jon-morley@live.co.uk  I'll give you a call later.

cheers Jon.
