Summer!

It's that time of the year.  Family visits seem to be the name of the game.  We normally have a barbecue in the tractor shed with family.  This year they couldn't all make it together so we had to have two!

This week it was the turn of youngest grandson to visit for his first barbecue in the tractor shed.  He ate well!! - so did I!!  Note our cheap, portable home made barbecue which serves a multitude of other tasks.......

RE:Summer!

Nice photos John. Nice to see the youngsters getting interested in tractors. Alan

RE:Summer!

Looks like you did a good job of it, John!  He seems to be really enjoying the food.  Were there any tractor rides involved?

I'm sure missing my grandson / little tractor buddy that moved all the way to Anacortes, WA...  There haven't been any tractor rides here all summer...  :-(

Enjoy!

RE:Summer!

Hey John,   That pic with the Ferguson hydraulics display or mock-up in it.  Is that a factory display or something you put together?

RE:Summer!

Hi 44,

I bought it from a museum sale in Holland last year.  I'm not absolutely certain of its origins but it is well made - maybe by a Dutch MF dealer or MF in Holland?

John,

No rides for this lttle fellow the youngest grandson.  This is currently restricted to the two older ones when they come over.  Maybe next year.  Currently eating is his big thing!

RE:Summer!

Fine looking grandson John,

Is that #55 behind him one that came over after the War?  That one looks very straight.  They must have been a big tractor over there back then.  Anything special about that one?  I notice a little write-up hanging on the front.

RE:Summer!

44.

The 55 is in fact a 55 Riceland diesel with the high arch front axle so not original to the UK

I bought it 2-3 years ago from a dealer in Conecticut on the basis of what I beleived to be very honest descriptions of it in photos and over the phone.  It turned out to be a first rate tractor needing very little doing to it - the main jobs being to re-line the brakes and re-wire the electircs.  Very good starter even in cold weather.

55Ks were imported to the UK and a handful survive to this day.  A few have been imported in recent years from USA and Australia, the Aussie ones all being fitted with what I consider to be quite ugly rear wheels cast in Aus.  Some of the original imports have been retro fitted with Perkins P6 diesels to finish their working lives in a more economical manner but I think it devalues them

RE:Summer!

Some of the family came to see me yesterday. This is my Grand Daughter and Great Grandson. They show more interest in the tractors than my son's do. Hopefully they will continue to be interested. Alan
