Massey bucket list tractors

Hi all,

So I thought this was a fun idea to see if anybody has any Massey related tractors on their wish list.

I'll start off with mine: Massey Harris 444 diesel or a 555 diesel Riceland, MF 98 w/3-71 Detroit Diesel.

I'd also like to have (though I know it won't happen) this prototype MF 1000 series tractor with a Perkins V8.

What is on your wish list?

Cheers,

RE:Massey bucket list tractors

Okay, I'll play along.  I'm not sure you could call this one a "bucket list" tractor or not.  It is clearly one I will never be able to afford even if one of the two known to exist ever come up for auction.

Massey-Harris 44 Special Diesel Cane (High Crop) tractor.  Yeah....

Here are a couple of photos of the one at the Heartland Museum in Clarion, Iowa.  The other one is in Michigan.

You taught me something today, never knew MH made a hi-crop tractor. That would definitely be something cool to have.

RE:Massey bucket list tractors

Having thought about this for a while I decided that perhaps my remaining desire would be to get back my uncle's MF 178 Multi Power tractor.  It was sold off at his retirement sale some 15-20 years ago and bought by a chap called Andy who used to drive for him as he has a small acreage of his own.  Andy used to come across regularly to see my collection and always said that the time would come when he would sell it back to me - it's really my son who wants it as he used to get on well with his great uncle.

Anyway poor Andy died relatively young and his sons took over his farm.  They know that I am waiting in the wings!

The 178s were solid lugging tractors with their heavy cast iron rear wheel rims.  This one did much of my uncles ploughing and because of its multi power was always used on the baler.  Andy spent hours on both these jobs and it was very much "his" tractor".

Unlike John I didn't have to think about this at all, for many years now this 12-20 has been right on the top of my wish list.
It was this tractor bought new by Grandfather and driven all it's life by my dad  which started my interest in M-H for over 50 years now, just shows how fast time goes.
